University Art - text reads - did you know The world's first scholarly edition of the work of James Hogg is being produced jointly by the Stirling English Department and the University of South Carolina.

The results of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) confirm the quality and impact of the Division's research. 90% of our assessed research was graded ‘internationally recognised’, with more than half considered ‘internationally excellent’ or ‘world leading’. We have recognised research expertise in the following areas: Medieval Studies, Renaissance Studies (including Shakespeare), Seventeenth- and Eighteenth-Century Studies, Romanticism, the Gothic, Victorian Literature, Modern Literature, Scottish Studies and Postcolonial Studies.

In addition, the Department houses a number of internationally recognised interdisciplinary and inter-University Research Centres:
