About
M.A. (Glasgow), Ph.D. (Glasgow) I joined the Department in 2002 having previously taught at Glasgow University and Trinity College, Dublin.
Research
My main research interests are in 19th- and 20th-century British and American literature, modernism, and the short story. I am currently writing a monograph on transatlantic literary culture 1870-1930, which looks at representations of America and the American in the work of British writers, Kipling, Stevenson, William Archer, Rupert Brooke, and G.K. Chesterton among them. I am currently supervising PhDs on Stephen King and modernist fiction and welcome proposals in any area of 19th- or 20th-century British or American literature.
