About:-

BA (Hons) Delhi/ MA (Hons) Jadavpur/ PhD (Edinburgh)

I joined the University of Stirling in January 2010 from Edinburgh Napier University, where I was a lecturer in publishing since 2008. While working on my PhD, I was Postgraduate Researcher at the The Centre of the History of the Book at the University of Edinburgh, and also worked in a variety of roles at organisations such as Canongate Books, the Edinburgh International Book Festival.

Research:-

My research interests focus on textuality and embodiment in their myriad contexts. I am currently working on a monograph based on my doctoral dissertation which explores how ideas of gendered embodiment influenced Byron’s poetics and his relationship with the literary marketplace. I also have a deep interest in the history of the book and publishing studies, which is informed by my years working in the publishing industry. My publications include a number of essays in The Edinburgh History of the Book in Scotland, Volume 3 (1800-1880), edited by Bill Bell (EUP, 2007). I am currently a Committee Member of the Society for Young Publishers, Scotland.

I would welcome research proposals from prospective PhD students on print culture in the Romantic era; Byron, his life and poetry; the history of the book; contemporary UK academic and trade publishing; emerging technologies and their impact on the publishing industry, especially in the context of intellectual property; the graphic novel.
