The structure of the Single Honours degree programme in English Studies is shown below. This 'grid' is intended to assist students in the planning of their degree pathway, and in the selection of individual modules. Detailed information on each course can be found in the listing of Current Modules. If you have any questions about your module choices, please contact an Adviser. The programme shown below is the usual pattern for the vast majority of students, but some variations, with the approval of the Head of Department, are possible. Students on Joint Honours programmes should consult their Undergraduate Calendar for details of their programme requirements.

Admission to Honours is confirmed at the end of semester four and the normal entrance requirements are for students to have attained 242 SCQF credits (11 full modules) in total and to meet the following subject conditions:

  • Three grades of 2F or better in modules ENG9X3 and two semester four modules (ENG9WH, ENG9WI, ENG9WL) (or their evening equivalents).
